What Are Gel Packs?

A gel pack is a plastic pouch of non-toxic, reusable refrigerant gel. Gel packs can be used for transporting chilled products or as an ice pack to help alleviate pain from minor injuries or surgery. Gel packs are the perfect solution for shipping products that require chilled temperatures between 33-50° F and can be used in conjunction with dry ice to meet your packing requirements. Gel packs are available in various sizes, frozen or unfrozen, and are sold by the box or by the pallet. Gel packs freeze at 5° lower than water at about 27°F and require 24-48 hrs. for individual gel pack freezing, 5-7 days in cartons, and 2-3 weeks by the pallet.
